You are required to reflect on the course as a whole. As you collect lessons each week in your workshops, collaborates and other activities, we will ask you to give the whole course reflection during in your learning journal. Through the workshops and your engagement with the online learning materials you will accumulate learnings about various aspects of problem solving and about your own reflexivities and practices as a student, as a problem solver, and as a team/group member. We strongly encourage you to write a reflection each week, at the end of class or soon afterwards, while your experiences are fresh in your mind. You can then file these and later use them when you write your final learning reflection submission. A technique you may wish to employ is to ask yourself what your three key takeaways from the class/online session were, and to write about those. In doing this, you will collate your reflections on the lessons you learned from your experiences within this course, such as: what worked well, what didn’t, and summarising your entire experience. Note: each week your course lecturer has given you a guideline for helping understand the key elements of your learning. As you fill this in you will be able to capture insights that you can use in this journal. Please undertake this activity carefully and thoughtfully. Download the guidelines (Word doc). The reflective learning journal is a technique to assist you to analyse your learning. Think about how and what you have learned in this course. This is not academic writing but a more personal account of your own learning style. Use the first person singular i.e. “I” when writing. Discuss your ideas and opinions. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers. The journal is assessed according to how you show that you have thought about what you have learned. It is a good idea to take regular notes each week after class about your learning experience. This will form the basis for your journal. Please note that I am not looking for a description of topics covered in class but rather how you understood and built your knowledge over the semester. If diagrams help to explain your thought processes, please include these. Give examples from topics in the course throughout the journal. (Please note that this is a guide only and you should write about any aspect of learning that is important to you as long as it demonstrates your learning experience.) The Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) is used as a basis for marking. Please read the SOLO taxonomy website and become familiar with it. It’s important if you want the best marks possible. This journal answers four very important questions. What did you learn in this course? What are you key take away’s? Discuss at least 3 examples of Learning’s or activities from the course but do not be too descriptive. Not just the activities but you personally – what did you learn from this experience? What will you take with you forever? How did this course impact you personally? What would you now do things differently? How would you approach problems differently? What did you learn about problem-solving by doing this course? What skills do you think you picked up and what can you take with you into the workforce?
