Each student will be expected to write a paper of no more than 500 words and a Powerpoint on a reading. Readings will be assigned to each student during the first lecture. The due date for this assessment will vary depending upon what reading you have been selected. Each student will be asked to answer three major questions related to their assigned reading: What is the primary focus and problem explored in the paper? What are the key ideas and arguments raised in the reading? What issues emerge out of the reading that you would like other students to know about? Selected PowerPoints will be used by the lecturer in the class so other class members can benefit. Students will benefit in two ways: the information in the PowerPoints will help the class identify interview questions that students might consider asking research participants as part of assignment two data collection. the information in the PowerPoints will assist students with their exam preparation.
