Qualitative data has been described as voluminous and sometimes overwhelming to the researcher. In what ways could a researcher manage and organize the data?
It is true that extricating and coding qualitative data can be overwhelming, particularly when it is from multiple sources. Still, the task can be completed by standardizing the data and assigning themes. The first step is to review the collected data (after transcription if necessary) to identify the initial patterns and emerging themes that are then assigned categorical codes. The second step is to create a coding table that is congruent with the initial patterns and emerging themes.
