The presentation is based on an empirical study of organizational phenomena, perceived from a constructivist/interpretivist perspective. Groups will include 3-5 students, presentations will last 15-20 minutes. Assessment will take place during the week commencing 24th April 2017. The mark for assignment 2 is worth 50% of the whole module. Students may choose any organization they find appropriate and study any topic which: 1) constitutes an interesting research question AND 2) is relevant to the area of organization and management studies. Students are asked to consult with their tutor the topic, research method, method of access and group composition (3-5 members) not later than in week 19. Assessment takes the form of a presentation of the research material and conclusions drawn from its analysis. Such presentation may take any form (PowerPoint is acceptable, but not necessary). However, every student must actively participate in this presentation. All gathered material will also be assessed (while any ethical issues this may entail will be taken into consideration – sensitive information need not be disclosed [e.g. if a company prefers to remain anonymous, any information that could easily identify it mustn’t be disclosed]). Students will submit a group report (one per group) briefly presenting a method, process and conclusions of the study via blackboard. The length of the report will vary in each case – some reports may provide ample interpretivist material while others will be more concise and present brief research vignettes and analytical highlights – however it may be expected that in most cases reports will be between 10-30 pages in length. Deadline for the group report submission: 28th April 2017. Only in exceptional cases (and pending the consent of the tutor) the number of students in each group may be different than 3, 4 or 5.
