I wish to apply for a Registered Nurse part-time position at Gold Coast University Hospital on the Orchid Older Person’s Mental Unit. I have been employed by Queensland Health since 2003. I have currently had the pleasure of working continuous temporary month to month contracts on Orchid Older Person’s Mental Health. I have a strong interest in working in mental health and specialist services and have completed the transition program offed by Gold Coast Health. I also bring a strong background in a medical nursing role which is often required when nursing consumers of an elderly demographic experiencing mental illness. I would prefer to continue to work in the mental health environment with older persons. I transferred with the Orchid Unit from Robina to GCUH on continuous temporary contracts.

I am a qualified Registered Nurse with experience working in different nursing roles both medical and in Mental Health. I have working in settings including the Emergency Department, Cardiac, Orthopedics, Surgical, Rehabilitation and Mental health. Mental Health is my preferred area in which to work. I have been a Clinical Nurse in an Aged Care Centre and worked as an acting Clinical Nurse with Queensland Health and I am currently acting up in an in-charge position when required on the Orchid Inpatient Unit. To increase my opportunities, I successfully completed the twelve-month Mental Health Transition Program. The completion of this program allows me to seek employment in Mental Health Units, which is my preferred area of work. I am passionate about nursing and my role as a Registered Nurse.

Employment History

Gold Coast Health Hospital and Health Service both Southport and Robina campus’ as a casual staff member. I was then contracted on a continuous basis inviting the offer of a permeant position. Due to family commitments and flexibility I returned to the casual pool at Robina Hospital where I was offered a contract on Orchid Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient Unit. I am still currently on contract and this will be my 27 contracts with Orchid.
