The healthcare information technology trend observed in my organization is the use of Voalte phones. The use of the Voalte technology application allows all healthcare providers in my organization to receive secured messages through their phones; respond to the patient call lights; make and receive direct calls, and also to receive critical alarms regarding any emergency.  This technology supports efficient workflows and allows a fast response to the patients (Hansen et al., 2018). The challenge associated with the use of Voalte technology is the connectivity issue. Sometimes there are issues of inability to send messages, hanging network, interrupted calls, and dropping calls. This significantly interrupts the communication. For example, there was a time the message was being regarding a critical patient and the network hand and hence the message was not communicated. In addition, sometimes the staff members lack the required knowledge and skills to use the application. Telemedicine is the healthcare technology trend likely to significantly impact healthcare technology in nursing practice. Telemedicine is the provision of healthcare service remotely utilizing technology to diagnose, treat, prevent diseases, and research with the aim of improving health (Serper & Volk, 2018). Telehealth enables patient monitoring and provision of care while patients are at a distance. This significantly improves the health outcomes for patients with chronic diseases and those who are having difficulties in accessing care due to geographical location challenges (Dinesen et al., 2016).
