Question:
Write about the impact of GTL on the Environmental and how to minimize the problems. Also, everything should be addressed to the Cleveland-Akron Area.
Answer:
Introduction
The oil and gas industry is known to underpin the financial prosperity of the country. It is a very significant and highly technologically driven international industry that lies at the heart of the concerns about air pollution and climate change. The continuous demands for satisfying the need for fuel resources and to meet the emission regulations of the exhaust gas have shown significant challenges for attracting the attention of the researchers. Hence, because of the sufficient supply of the conventional and the unconventional natural gas, the industry of GTL has received a continual interest. GTL (gas-to-liquid) fuel is regarded as one of the most promising cleaning alternatives for the diesel engines (Elia, Li and Floudas). As compared to the conventional process of diesel refining, the process of GTL offers a very notable impact on the environment, both positively and negatively. The process of GTL converts the natural gas to the longer-chain hydrocarbons like diesel, naphtha and wax (Ostadi et al.). GTL plants have many environment benefits to mention but with the same, the GTL process also creates a very notable amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It has many environmental implications. This paper shall elaborate on those environmental implications of the production of GTL. Also, as for every problem there is a solution as well, there is also some solutions for resolving this issue. This paper would also highlight those solutions by means of which the environmental impacts of GTL could be minimized to significant extent.
