In addition, a mission statement allows the organization to differentiate itself from competitors by answering three key questions: What do we do, for whom do we do it, and what is the benefit?

Significance of vision and mission statements for an organization

The significance of vision and mission statements for an organization is of vital importance in today’s world. It enhances the organization’s strategic value and gives it a strategic direction.

Without having a strong individual as well as organizational values, success for any organization will be far to reach. Without developing a mission, vision, and values to assist in developing a strategy, an organization will be unable to not only identify but also will be unable to distinguish or be able to portray itself to neither its own employees nor customers alike. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

Vision Statement: “Health and care, we intend to deliver both.”

Mission Statement: “Spreading Health and care.”

Specific Strategic Goals to ensure alliance with the ideals in the Vision and Mission statements of the organization

Healthcare today faces challenges in all perspectives, ranging from finance to government reforms and policies, technology and up to customer satisfaction. These challenges require healthcare organizations to step back and assess the organization’s strategic goals and plans on a regular basis.

In fact, strategic thinking, evaluating and modeling are becoming requirements for an organization to survive the turbulent healthcare climate.

Strategic planning and goal setting provide a general roadmap as to where the organization is headed and how the journey has been and is going to be ahead. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

Strategic planning and goal setting tend to guide decision making in an organization, including decisions regarding capital, staff, resources including technology and others. (Drewniak Rob, 2010)

QUALITY: To ensure the delivery of healthcare with care and compassion, every time.

The first specific strategic goals to ensure alliance with the ideals in the Vision and Mission statements of the organization is to embed a person centered philosophy of care into the everyday working ethics of the organization that brings excellence not only in care but also in dignity and the meaning and the connectedness of the lives of humble and honored customers.

Further, to ensure quality, there is a need to assure excellence concerning acute services provided while strengthening the current care provided to ensure smooth service and flow for all the patients. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

Lastly, in order to ensure quality, we intend to enhance our quality culture, processes and the outcomes of our processes thus ensuring that it leads to an exceptional care and service that fully adheres to our accreditation standards with exemplary standing and provide an exceptional health care experience through the development and provision of patient-and family-centered care.

SAFETY: Creation a culture of safety to ensure the safety of everyone.

The second specific strategic goals to ensure alliance with the ideals in the Vision and Mission statements of the organization are to embed a general culture of safety for everyone within the working culture of the organization.

For this, there is a need to advance our patient safety especially focused on medication safety and safety in terms of prevention of the patients from infections.

Further, there is also need to create a rewarding environment that tends to reward those who ensure safety in the organization. There is also need to develop fulfill a safety framework throughout the organization with preventing injury and violence in the workplace.

INNOVATION: To be in a relentless pursuance towards innovation to meet the needs in new and better way.

The third specific strategic goals to ensure alliance with the ideals in the Vision and Mission statements of the organization are to focus on innovations that enhance care and create support that is dynamic and sustainable in long terms.

For this, we intend to ensure that we demonstrate good stewardship of resources through enhancing our culture of accountability.

Lastly, we also intend to realize the effectiveness of using information technology through a consistent implementation of technological elements such as e-health records and other information systems. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

A prime example as to how innovation and care have ensured success can be better understood by understanding the efforts of Dr. Devi Shetty from India. “Hands that serve are more sacred than lips that pray.” The words of Mother Teresa had a profound effect on Dr. Devi Shetty, who was the late Nobel laureate’s personal cardiac surgeon in the early 1990’s.

In India, quality care and affordability never went hand in hand before, especially for cardiac care. That intent on affordability had been satisfied with low-quality care available at public run hospitals in India, while that intent on quality relied on costly high-quality private care.

This prompted Dr. Shetty to begin searching for a model that would marry affordability with quality care.

His organization, Narayana Health, in Bangalore, has today achieved this success of affordable quality health care to all people.

It has so far gone on to perform over 100,000 cardiac surgeries and over 250,000 cardiac lab procedures. (“Innovation: Narayana health ties affordability, quality,” 2017). Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

Three service delivery components that will be necessary elements of the organization’s value chain geared toward achieving the strategic goals identified include;

-Information and Communications Systems.

-Patient Care Enhancing Technology.

-Establishment of a balance between cost and benefit in favor of both the organization as well as the patient.

Analysis as to why these and other delivery and support components of the value chain that are  identified are essential for the sake of the achievement of the organization’s goals:

Exchange of information is very crucial for the delivery of at every level of health care delivery. From the patient care to the encompassing political-economic environment, exchange of information is very extremely crucial. (Reid, Compton, Grossman, & Fanjiang, 2005). Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

To ensure better diagnosis and appropriate treatments to individual patients in an effective manner, health care providers and care teams must today have access to at least three major types of clinical information which includes the patient’s health record, provider orders guiding the process of patient care and the rapidly changing medical evidence base.

Further, as per American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), new technologies in the health care industry are necessary to keep up with the increasing demands on the industry. (Healthcare Pathway, 2009)

Some of such major technological advancements include the Electronic Health Record, the m-Health or mobile health, telemedicine/telehealth, surgical procedures such as angioplasty and others, newer drugs such as biologic agents, sophisticated medical devices such as CT scanners and others.

The most important and “fundamental issue of healthcare economics.” since long continues to be the study of “cost-versus-benefit analysis.” In recent times, the demands of increased productivity in spite of a lack of adequate financial resources from a larger section of the population has brought about a  renewed discussion on cost-effectiveness in medical care. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

It is a well-known fact that despite abundant technological advancement in the U.S concerning health care among developed nations, the U.S has not been able to achieve better public health. The U.S in various reports ranks tenth or below for multiple public health-related indicators such births weight percentages, neonatal mortality, life expectancy and others.

The problem is that Healthcare professional and even common citizens have come to equate newer medical technology with better health care.

That is, there is a huge problem of misconception within the U.S health care system over the aspect of the impact of technology.

Such misconceptions are leading to unscientific use and promotion of technology in health care which in turn is giving rise to cost in health care. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.

Thus, the establishment of a balance between cost and benefit for both the organization as well as the patient as a powerful component of the organization will go a long way in ensuring the delivery of affordable quality health care.

Lastly, one of the most crucial support components that I feel is required as per my vision and mission statement includes the fire safety systems at healthcare centers, especially hospitals.  Fire Detection Systems are Key Components of Hospitals.

Fire detection and alarm systems today which include the automatic sprinkler systems have today come to become major safety components in health care occupancies. Mission and Vision statements in Strategic Management.
