MHA6297 Management and Evaluation of Quality in Health Care
RISE (Rapid Improvement Support and Exchange) (https://www.mcmasterforum.org/rise) is part of the Ministry of Health’s Ontario Health Team (OHT) Central Program of Supports, run by the McMaster Health Forum. It provides resources, access to experts, and assistance to support rapid learning and improvement by OHTs. RISE creates its own resources that are tailored to the needs of OHTs. They have released briefs in four categories: general, insights to address six of the biggest challenges in moving to OHTs, background information for OHTs, and lessons learned about specific OHT building blocks. They are all available at: https://www.mcmasterforum.org/rise/access-resources/key-resources.
Students will independently create the newest RISE Brief on the topic of quality improvement, as it pertains to individual OHTs. The brief will be no longer than 5 pages, references and tables included, typed at 12-point font, 1.5 spacing. Students are to read existing briefs on the RISE website to understand the style in which they are to be written. Students have the choice to create a brief on general quality improvement or to select a specific quality improvement topic on which to focus. The target audience for the brief is leadership of approved OHTs. None of the topics already published by the RISE team can be used. Each brief must include:
• An overview
• The main content, using headings, tables, or visuals to depict the information
• Key resources for further reading
• References (Note that not all briefs on the RISE website have references, but this must be included by students for the purpose of the assignment)
