Implementation of change is a tricky and complex process that is not always straight forward. The success or failure of a change lies heavily on how well the change is managed, particularly with regards to managing resistance. Your task is to identify a company that has undergone a change over the last 5 years and critically evaluate the implementation of the change. You are expected to focus on a 1-2 year timeline of related change(s) implemented. The key objective of this assignment is to gather, critically analyze and evaluate relevant information related to the management of change.
i.Provide a brief overview/background of the company selected.
ii.Identify key changes implemented during a specific timeframe in the company that you would like to focus on and critically discuss why these changes were needed (e.g. due to declining profits a new CEO was appointed and he worked on changing the organizational culture).
iii.Critically evaluate the implementation of these changes that lead to a success/failure, with a particular focus on discussing how resistance to change was managed with the stakeholders involved. You may identify both things that were managed well and why, and/or those managed not well and why- provide recommendations.
By addressing the above issues, the student is exposed to and should demonstrate the ability to understand the realities and challenges of change management. The assignment also addresses the learning objectives and outcomes of the unit.
