Describe problems, challenges, or difficulties you have personally observed in resource planning and assignment in your place of work. Also, point out any differences in resource assignment and planning that you have noticed between projects as described in the readings and ongoing operations.

Describe resource responsibilities.
The plan resource management process should result in a strategy for how the team will operate. For
example, will the project require a dedicated team, or is it preferred to assign a dedicated core team of five to
seven individuals and then temporarily assign work to additional resources as necessary? If this idea is
proposed, the resource management plan should include at least:
1. a high-level recommendation for how work will be assigned to resources,
2. how it will be decided that the work is finished, and finally, and
3. what happens to the resources when the assigned task is completed.
This is a matter that is, sometimes, overlooked by project managers. When a resource is temporarily assigned to a project from a functional group, what happens to the work that the individual was doing before being assigned to the project? Who takes over, and does the resource return to the job at the same rank and salary from before being assigned to the project? Such processes typically exist within a matrix organization, and if this is the case, the resource management plan will refer to internal processes when answering the who, what, when, where, how, and why of resource management strategy.
