This app is a great improvement and modification to the present Macys App. The App enables one to come up with a self-tailored profile that suits their own styles.
 MacStyle Mission
The firm’s aim is to develop an online platform that is user friendly, easy to use and access, and above all, an online platform that is unique to its users’ needs. It comes in handy with body shape recognition technology that can detect your body shape and this helps in making informed decision while doing your online selection of clothes to purchase for your drawer, sounds extremely good for consumers, right?
The app will have a feature that shall act as your personal assistant in terms of styles related advices, for example on current trendy outfits, vacation outfits and also the styles to be avoided. All such important services being presented to the consumers under one roof. This is an entirely user friendly software, having all your likes and tastes. Latest statistics shows a 3% increase in the number of consumers doing their shopping online, this translates to 51% in relation  to 48% in the previous year. This figure is a 4% increase in comparison to the 2014 statistics. The rise in these statistics has been attributed to the growing number of mobile phone users , especially the smartphones ,which enables the users to access the online markets (Chen, 2013)(https://www.businesswire.com/news).
MacStyle App forms many players in the technology and innovations industry. Some of the competitors are; JCPenney’s, Nordstrom, and Saks.
Opportunities and threats
Among the many opportunities that MacStyle App will offer are;
increased sales due to this online shopping opportunity. The various online retailers will be glad to embrace this app as it also widens their market and helps achieve globalization. The app shall open new markets worldwide. (Strauss, 2016)
The app will also create new employment opportunities within the newly created online marketing divisions.
Among the threats that shall be facing the firm are;
Strong and stiff competition from other online retail stores such as JCPenneys. But MacStyle’s unique branded features shall enable it sail through. (Strauss, 2016)
Another threat to wrestle with will be constant change in consumers’ preference. The firm shall constantly keep track of this trend and make necessary improvements.
Another threat posed is the constant updates of current apps by competitors. This will force the firm to follow suit or always be at the forefront of effecting such changes in order to remain relevant. (Chen, 2013)
Government actions facing MacStyle and the industry as a whole
Strict compliance with agreements, laws and regulations. State and federal laws and regulations are required to be adhered to even after the app has been developed for distribution (Bell, 2014).
Consumer-facing agreements. App developers are required to develop the terms and conditions to be applied to their end users. These terms and conditions must be strictly adhered to and agreed to prior to downloading and installation of the app
Securing of the app-related intellectual property rights. This will help in times of patent infringement and help pursue litigation (Bell, 2014).
Determination of the underlying business agreements. There must be a clear agreement on how the revenues from the sales that happen through the apps will be shared between the retailors and the app producer. (Bertot, 2016).
