Answer

Leadership and Management Concepts
Introduction
The leader and management play important role in the success of an organization by their active role in influencing the organizational behavior. The direct link between leader and management helps in shaping the right strategies for accomplishing the set targets of the business (Vaccaro, Jansen, Van Den Bosch and Volberda, 2012; R?ducan and R?ducan, 2014). On the other hand, management frames the policies, structure and delegate the authority to leaders who can they accordingly manage the operational activities (Wiengarten and Pagell, 2012). In this context, the current report is based on the leadership and management with respect to hospitality organization; Accor Hotels. The management structure of Accor Hotels has been defined which is compiled form of centralization and decentralization. Further, difference has been identified between leadership and management on the basis of their roles performed in the different business situations. In addition to this, management by Objective and Chaos theory have been applied to support the analysis of leadership and management. At the end, appropriate recommendations have been provided for the future implications and improvements in the corresponding business activities.
An Introduction to the Organisations
Leadership is a milestone for the organizations for providing a direction to all team members to achieve effectiveness in work (Caligiuri and Tarique, 2012). In this context, hospitality company Accor Hotels has been selected to analyze the leadership and management. Accor hotels is a French multinational company which deals in hospitality services, franchises hotels and vacation properties. The organization operated the business at worldwide along with 4300 locations along with 100 countries outside the US. Further, it provides the several luxury brands involving Fairmount, Novotel, Raffles etc. (Accor Hotels, 2018). On the other, it also offers the medium range hotel services in different hotels and resorts such as Mercure, Adagio Ibis Swissotel etc. (Accor Hotels, 2018). Accor Hotels, every day put all required efforts to welcome and treat the customers with strong promise in the hotel services. Moreover, the respective organization is focusing on the innovations and transformation in products and services to cover the entire consumer market. Besides of these, Accor hotels has various top competitors in the market like Hyatt hotel, Marriott hotel, Hilton IHG etc. Moreover, Wyndham, Best Western Four seasons are another competitor in hospitality industry of Accor Hotels (Owler Inc, 2018).
Concept of Management Structure
Management structure refers to hierarchical arrangement of different levels in organizations with the allocation of relevant rights and responsibilities (Ashkenas, Ulrich, Jick and Kerr, 2015). In case of effective management structure, there can be a complete flow of information, coordination between different departments and control of the management activities. By considering this, there are two types of management structure such as centralized and decentralized which are used by the organizations according to nature of the business (Harper, 2015). In the centralized structure, all the rights remain in control of top management as well as decisions are also taken by superior management without involvement of employees. But in decentralized structure, all the decision power is distributed to different departments for the attainment of goals (Lunenburg, 2012). In this context, Accor Hotels is using the decentralized structure for the management of business activities. For instance, Accor Hotels UK is based on the decentralization by offering the empowerment to employees and departments. In UK Accor Hotels, every department has a departmental manager who remains responsible for all decisions which are taken at their own level. Further, the Departmental manager would be responsible towards head of department to convey the exact information regarding availability of services (The business of accommodation, 2013). On the other, it also focuses on the centralized management structure for effectiveness and quality of services like Accor Hotels top management has prepared a list of services to attract the clients and customers for future benefits. Further, to achieve the economies of scale, price list has also been decided to retain in global market (The business of accommodation, 2013).
Definition of Managers and Leaders

Manager- Manager is an individual who is responsible to manage a certain group of business activities and to control the group of staff (Kotter, 2010). Further, all other departmental people are identified as per the designation such as line and staff managers which are based on the functions of departments.
Leader- Leader is a person who directs the whole group of employees in the organization towards the attainment of specific objectives and goals (Ciolac, 2012). An effective leader is associated with 3 P’s such as people, purpose and person. In this regard, a leader possesses various qualities to lead the team members and remains committed for the achievement of purpose.

                                                                                                      Figure 1: 3P’s of a leader
(Source: Glatthorn, Jailall and Jailall, 2016)
Roles of Managers and Leaders
Manager and leader play significant roles as per the designation in the organization to attain effectiveness of the business. The manager plays an important role as a resource allocator in the organization because manager is accountable to manage the resources like financial, human, technical and physical resources as per the requirements of a firm (Yoder-Wise, 2014). Further, in the role of resource allocator, manager decides the schedule for the completion of a specific project along with expenses incurred on it. On the other hand, leader plays a role of motivator because leader is responsible to lead the entire team members and enhances the morale for the achievement of business targets. For instance, the general manager of Accor Hotels work with the team and make close relationships with team members to take every day decisions. In this manner, the manager always thinks benefits of members and use the experiences for the better performance. On the other hand, to motivate the employees of the respective organization, the manger remains active for the innovative plans and focuses on the future aspect by offering the traditional views in front of the team members. To achieve the purpose, the manager always emphasizes on involvement of extra-ordinary teams in the decision-making and as per the employees’ feedback, manager do the changes in decisions to motivate them (Accor vacation club, 2017). Hence, it shows that leader plays a role of motivator for the whole team to achieve the effectiveness in the productivity and services.
The manager plays a supervisory role in the organization because manager provides the instructions and inspect them on time basis that employees are working as per the guidelines or not. On the other hand, leader plays a crucial role as a decision maker at the time of critical business situations (Winston, Creamer and Miller, 2013). For instance, manager of Accor Hotel is responsible to manage all the departments in an effectual manner to promote the coordination. But a leader is responsible to fulfill the particular needs the less time frame. For example, in context of Accor Hotels, a demand arises to reduce the budget by keeping the cost saving activities. For that a leader communicate with the manager to perform the changes in budget to resubmit the budget along with revised expectations (The business of accommodation, 2013).
Different between Management and Leadership
Management and leadership have significant differences because both plays different roles but to some extent leadership and management creates a linkage between each other. Management relates to confirming that task has been performed in a correct manner whereas leadership always stick on to inspire the people towards the attainment of goals (Vaccaro, Jansen, Van Den Bosch and Volberda, 2012). For example, leadership of Accor Hotels assures that team members are motivated in favor of the specific project so that volume can be enhanced by creating a better working environment (Sen and Kaushik, 2016). By considering the leadership scenario, management of Accor Hotels revealed that an autocratic leadership style is crucial so as to keep the eye on the quality of services which is being done by employees. Further, management assumes that employees are obliged to meet the deadlines since they are being paid for their work whereas leader ensures to meet the expectations of both management and employees (Xi, Kraus, Filser and Kellermanns, 2015). Therefore, it reveals that management and leadership have different roles on the basis of requirement of the situation in the business.
Management is supportive to provide the ideas for the particular task to make the employees feel that management is completely involved in exercise whereas leadership is responsible to implement the ideas of management in an appropriate manner without moving from the exact motive of the task (Al-Ali, Singh, Al-Nahyan and Sohal, 2017). For instance, the management of Accor Hotels has decided to increase the number of customers in a certain ratio for the maximization of profitability. In this regard, views are given by the management to the leader of the organization, now by increasing their responsibility as well as authority (Smerecnik and Andersen, 2011). Thus, it reveals that management is only accountable to render the suggestions but the leadership is responsible to give the expected results for the company because the leaders performs the task as per the policies of the management.
Different roles of Management and Leadership in Different Organisational Situations
The management and leadership play different roles in the organization because the management set objectives and leaders frame strategies to accomplish them. At this juncture, CEO of Accor Hotels defines strict policies related to quality of products delivered to end users. For this purpose, the approach or targets are communicated to leaders such as marketing manager, sales manager and human resource manager (Marquis and Huston, 2009). These key leaders formulate strategies in their respective department through which end results can be achieved. In this context, Human relations theories come under the management theory wherein the requirement of an organization is aligned with the organizational objectives by adopting the appropriate standards and policies. At this juncture, the cooperation of leaders is required for which they are incentivized and motivated to accomplish the set standards (Huczynski, Buchanan and Huczynski, 2013). On the contrary, management uses the reward policies for better performing leader so as to increase their dedication towards the organization.
For this purpose, the management of Accor Hotels emphasizes on capacities of individuals for acting autonomously and creatively. These approaches are applied with the help of leaders which further emerges requirement of suitable leaders in order to handle the situations in an effectual manner. For example, if the management has defined the deadline for achieving the targets then leaders will follow different approach by adopting transformational leadership for motivating personnel (Bolden, 2011). By using the cited leadership approach employees perceive their values at workplace and can be willing contribute towards the success of the business. On the contrary, if the management propose any changes in the organization by considering the potential of employees then it is likely that workforce will resist it (Morgeson, DeRue and Karam, 2010). For this purpose, autocratic leadership approach is viable wherein management is made aware of the current issues and accordingly required changes can be made in the organizational setting.
Chaos Theory and Management by Objectives
Management by Objectives (MBO)
MBO is a strategic management tool which is used to set the common objectives of the organization by involvement of employees. The approach of MBO helps in aligning the individual or department goals by involving employees in the decision-making procedure. (Drucker, 2012). Further, in this approach, few authorities would be rendered to employees for completion of task.  For example, every organizations have different objectives and goals to enhance the productivity of the business (refer figure 2). These must be known to workforce by ensuring their engagement through which they get valid information related to the objectives of the business and expectation of company towards them. On the other hand, Accor hotels is applying the MBO as a strategic tool for setting up a common goal for the organization and employees. Moreover, the respective company can be beneficial through MBO which is supportable for the growth of the company because it involves the participative decision-making (Bolden, 2011). It is helpful to make objectives more creative which have major contribution in making plans close to realistic.

Figure 2: Milestone of MBO approach
                                                                                                    (Source: Scarborough, 2016)
By using the strategic tools as deficiencies in the business can be reduce since it facilitates to motivate workforce for achieving the collective success. Further, it also renders the potential opportunities to deal with the challenges because associated with creativity and learning (Scarborough, 2016). In this context, Accor Hotels is also engaged with MBO that encourages the initiation and growth with the help of the flexible capacity of executives. On the other hand, MBO incorporates the key elements for the pre-decided changes because by setting up a common objective the management would be able to identify the drawbacks and manage the entire procedure effectively (Wheelen and Hunger, 2011). By considering this, Accor Hotels can build strong relationship between employees and management by emphasizing on changing environment which has major participation in critical success factor of the organization and becomes socially strong as well as performance oriented (Morgeson, DeRue and Karam, 2010). Thus, it shows that MBO is an effective approach for the growth of the business in the form of organizational change and development as well as also offers the long-range planning with collaboration of employees.
Chaos theory
Chaos theory is a mathematical approach which refers to unexpected and unpredictable, non-linear changes in the organization (Robertson and Combs, 2014). A company generally deals with the unpredictable challenges such as uncertain weather conditions, turbulence and stock market changes etc. which are not under the control of the management. Further, this approach is adopted by the manager to take decisions in complex environment by applying the mathematical operations (Azar and Vaidyanathan, 2016.). In this context, this theory can be helpful for Accor Hotels to manage the uncertainties in hospitality sector and management can predict the future complexities rather than focusing on the long-term future results (Kensbock, 2012). Further, by applying the Chaos theory, the respective company can assess the small changes for the current situations which would render the better outcomes for the future. However, the drastic changes may incur the critical conditions for the management but with the help of Chaos approach management can easily accept the sudden changes which helps in taking the right decision for the growth and development of the business.

Conclusions
On the basis of overall analysis, it has been concluded that leaders and managers have influence on the organization because of their active role in framing the strategies for accomplishing the set targets. Here, leaders with their influence tend to affect the brand image of the business by positively motivating workforce for achieving the set objectives. It can also be concluded that approach such as MBO approach, Chaos theory and style of leadership defines the set pattern of employees and enable them to achieve the set targets so as to derive the valid outcome. However, the different situations of the business are handled with the support or selection of suitable leadership style. This in turn influence corporation to derive the valid outcome and meet the expectations of all related stakeholders.
Recommendations for Future Improvements
On the basis of above report, it can be recommended for the management of Accor Hotels to motivate team leaders in the monetary and non-monetary for boosting their morale and getting their 100% for accomplishing the set objectives. At the same time, leaders should also adopt the situational leadership style on the basis of demand of the situation. This proves to be effective in bringing the change in the business and getting the proper support from employees to manage the changes in the business.
