Task 1: Select the Company and Industry Scope
The first task is to select the company for which the strategic review should be given and determine the industry scope.
Once the company has been selected, the student needs to determine the industry scope within which they will perform their analysis. This involves considering two dimensions:
The product or service scope – this refers to product or service (i.e. the business unit) the student will focus on. Each company has a multitude of business units and you cannot review them all so the student has to select one.
The geographic scope – this refers to whether you will look at the product or service as part of a global industry or within particular regions (Asia, Europe, and so on) or countries (India, China, UK etc.)
Task 2: Write The Report
The second task is for the student to write the report. This report will be 1,500 words long and appendices will be allowed. There is no limit to appendices but students are advised to use their professional judgement about how many appendices are presented and how useful they are.
