Design description and design pattern used
Design description
The high altitude and long range research aircraft is a research aircraft that is used for the atmospheric research and the earth observations, this aircraft is mainly used in the provision of the platform that is used by the air borne atmospheric science and the earth’s observations where it is equipped with a flying laboratory equipments.
The laboratory in the HOLA aircraft is well equipped with some sensors and a software application system that is used in the monitoring of the atmospheric condition using the research crew.
The research crew is however fitted with some sensors which are used to capture the climatic conditions and then send the results to the software system to be displayed to the users, below are the various sensors used.
Pressure sensor: This is the sensor that is used to capture the atmospheric pressure and it sends the real time pressure to the designed software system.
Temperature sensor: This is the sensor that is used to capture the temperature and it sends the real time temperature degrees to the designed software system.
Humidity sensor: This is the sensor that is used to capture the humidity in the atmosphere and it sends the real time humidity to the designed software system.
Radiation sensor: This is the sensor that is used to capture the atmospheric radiations and it sends the real time radiation in rem units to the designed software system.
Wind speed sensor: This is the sensor that is used to capture the wind speed and it sends the real time speed of the wind in kilometer per hour to the designed software system.
Therefore the system is designed in a way that is able to capture all the atmospheric condition units and displaying them in one display, this system is made of five major classes which includes the Pressure class which capture the pressure details and units, Temperature class which captures the temperature units in terms of degrees Celsius, Humidity class that captures the humidity level in terms of cubic centimeter, Radiation class which is designed to capture the radiations details in terms of rem units, the Wind_speed class that is used to capture the speed of the weed in kilometers per hours and the 3D wind class is the final class that is meant to get values from both the pressure and the wind speed classes where the wind field and turbulence are recorded from the pressure and the wind speed sensor (Wixom, 2016).
Design pattern used
While implementing the HOLA software system there is various design patterns that were used which represents the optimized, re-usable solutions to the various problems related to programming that the developer’s likely faces on daily basis.
The following are the various design patterns that had been used in the implementation of the system.
Structural design pattern: This is a pattern that relates the entities and enables the entities to work together for instance the structural design had been used in the implementation of the sub-set design class diagram where the various entity classes are linked to the main display_readings classes through the use of the reference keys.
Creational design patterns: This is a pattern that was used in the system design and it helped in the process of instantiation mechanism where the various objects are created to suit the various software situations, this pattern was applied while implementing the classes and the various attributes could be given initial values like the one with integer attributes (Goyal, 2011).
The behavioral design patterns: This is the pattern used in the implementation of the system and it is used to enable the entities to communicate easily and in a flexible manner. This pattern was used while implementing the 3D wind class where the values were obtained from the pressure and the wind speed classes which could communicate by help of the behavioral design pattern.
Round trip engineering
During the implementation of the proposed system the use of round trip engineering would be applied while using the UML CASE tools where synchronization of the various UML sections would be effected by the round trip engineering which includes the designing of the system domain layer, application layer and user interface layer (Gupta, 2015).
Commercial risks and risk management issues
The implementation of the software could be affected by various risks and they can affect the delivery of the proposed system on time, among the risks are:
No.
Commercial risks
Risk management issues
1.
Under Estimations and scheduling risks
Prior monitoring of similar existing projects and possible time and money spent.
2.
Sudden growth in system requirements.
Anticipation and prepare for the worst case scenario.
3.
Low employees turn over.
Setting up a adequate team members and resources.
4.
Break down of specifications.
Ensuring the specifications is clear before the development team start working.
5.
Compromise of software design.
Ensuring that all the system sections are designed and tested during the system design process.
