Under each source write two or three sentences stating how this source will help you answer the essay question – be specific and make reference to the essay question where it is suitable. Essay plan (approximately 100 words) The next step is to create an essay plan. Your plan should include a thesis statement (one sentence that directly responds to the chosen question and outlines your argument) and an outline of the structure of your essay, briefly noting what will be discussed in each paragraph. Make sure you have considered how your sources will substantiate your thesis. Two body paragraphs (200-250 words each) Choose two of the body paragraphs you have outlined in your essay plan to write up for submission. Each of these paragraphs should be between 200 and 250 words and should include: • A topic sentence. • The use of at least two sources from your preliminary bibliography (including in-text citations). • An analysis of these sources that shows how they provide evidence for your argument. • A concluding sentence that links the content of the paragraph back to the essay question (this should align with your thesis statement).
