It is essential for every individual to follow high ethical standard so that a better community can be built. The ethical practises are associated with the understanding and expectation of the business responsibility. However, there are certain challenges in the field of business ethics that are needed to be considered. This case study analysis aims in evaluating the role of ethical practises in community well being. The moral character of an individual is important for overall community excellence. The fundamental characteristics of the institutions of business are associated with following of specific ethical techniques and guidelines. Thus, ethics can be described as societal moral as, it provide a perception of right and wrong processes and guides in decision making. The most basic instinct of life is self preservation that results in self oriented thinking and actions. The role of ethical practises in community wellbeing is discussed in the following paragraphs.
Literature Review
According to Wang, Cheney and Roper (2016), virtue ethics play a significant role in understanding and expectation of the business responsibility. However, there are certain challenges in the field of business ethics that are needed to be considered. A business should always be aligned with social well being. Human wellbeing comprises of a number of dimensions from emotional wellbeing to a healthier life. Appropriate ethical action helps in securing social and human wellbeing (Wang, Cheney and Roper 2016). The roots for community wellbeing lie in the approaches that are undertaken to ensure community wellbeing. Fundamental ethical practices helps in employing a trusting co operative and socially engaged work environment, which in turn helps in social wellbeing. The theory of virtue ethics is therefore considered as a guiding principle of ethical conduct. The virtue ethics is considered as an ethical approach that emphasizes the virtues and moral character. According to Amisano (2017), the financial crisis and ethical behaviors of business leaders are under scrutiny. The leaders often face uncertainty regarding the ethical leadership, behaviors and their impact. It is often seen that the small business involves a multiple facets of behavior and decision making (Ridley-Duff and Bull 2015). An incorrect or less idea and understanding of ethical leadership might result in improper decision making, which in turn can affect the social wellbeing. In this context, the ethical principles are needed to be identified. These include honesty, integrity, loyalty fairness and others. There are 12 ethical principles, which contribute to community wellbeing. It is corporate social responsibility of business organization to correlate with a long term financial sustainability of a business (Trevino and Nelson 2016). It is the responsibility of the managers to properly identify and correlate with the ethical principles, which can relate to community wellbeing. Business ethics is considered to be rules, standards codes and principles that provide the guidelines associated with human behavior that is morally right along with truthfulness in a specific situation. Business ethics relate to the conception of what is right and what is wrong, which in turn adds to the community wellbeing.
Ethics can be defined as a study of moral duty and obligation that is essential to consider for community wellbeing. Thus, it can be said that moral and virtue ethics has a significant role to play in ensuring community wellbeing. If there is a significant decline in the ethical behavior of a society, it might lead to trouble. Socialization helps in inculcation of the ethical values and ethical principle in a person’s life (Amisano 2017). Correct ethical knowledge helps an individual to integrate into family, community, village, state, nation and in humanity. Therefore, appropriate ethical knowledge contributes to the development of better community. According to the professional code of ethics, it is the responsibility of an individual to maintain honesty and integrity in their work. This honesty reflects to the community and contributes to community well being (Benn, Edwards and Williams 2014). Human and community wellbeing is associated with a number of dimensions that include emotional wellbeing in order to lead a healthy life. Without the understanding of correct ethical behavior, there will be a chaos and confusion (Mikesell, Bromley and Khodyakov 2013). Thus, ethical action helps in securing social and human wellbeing. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each individual to follow proper ethical methods and approaches in order to ensure community wellbeing.
Method
It is essential to identify the method that is followed in case study analysis. For this case study analysis, a secondary research method is chosen. In order to understand the process by which the ethical practices contribute to community wellbeing, it is essential to identify the secondary sources that address the same topic. An extensive literature review has been undertaken in order to understand the process by which the ethical practices contribute to community wellbeing. In the literature review section of this report, various academic sources related to the topic are reviewed. The academic sources of the literature review are found to be appropriate for evaluation of the research topic (Desmet and Pohlmeyer 2013). The different ethical theories and concepts are evaluated in the literature review section. One of the most significant benefits of making use of secondary data sources is that a large number of data can be gathered (Walliman 2017). Since the data is collected from published literature and journals, legitimate data can be gathered (McNiff 2013). The finding from the literature review and the secondary data sources provide a fair understanding of ethical principles and its role in community wellbeing. Thus, the use of various data resources is considered to be appropriate for this research project.
Discussion
The key finding of the study indicates that ethical practices play a significant role in community wellbeing. It has been observed that choice of correct ethical practices and principles help better management of a business, which in turn contributes to community wellbeing. In this context, the ethics of community is needed to be defined. The ethics of community is defined as a moral responsibility of engaging in communal processes. The ethical issues are needed to be identified in order to ensure that the individual choose the right alternative in situation of ethical dilemma. According to Mikesell, Bromley and Khodyakov (2013), ethics can generally be defined as norms that help in distinguishing between the acceptable behavior and the unacceptable behavior. The community wellbeing is associated with following of appropriate ethical principle. According to the principle of beneficence, a person is required to be treated in an ethical manner. This can be achieved by respecting their decisions and by protecting them from harm (Lloyd, Mey and Ramalingum 2014). Following ethical principles are important for community well being mainly because it maximizes the potential benefits associated with a society.
Community wellbeing encompasses the social, economic, environmental, political and cultural condition that is essential to flourish and fulfill the potential of an individual. It is the responsibility of the individuals to understand their ethical responsibility towards the society so that community wellbeing can be achieved (Moncur 2013). An appropriate knowledge about the ethical principles and virtue ethics help in offering social support and enhancing the social trust thereby establishing the community wellbeing. Therefore, one of the significant needs for ensuring community well being is a clear idea of the virtue ethics. All members is a community are needed to be treated with fairness and justice which can be achieved with the help of proper and appropriate ethical practices.
The literature review section analyses the major reason behind the need of an individual to have a proper knowledge of ethical principle for community wellbeing. Communal involvement and community well being is important in order to build and develop a better future. Various researches about the ethical and community wellbeing indicate that virtue ethics and different ethical principles promote community engagement. Community engagement is the first step towards community wellbeing. An organizational environment is important for promoting the ethical conduct in workplace. For creation of an ethical organization, the commitment of the top management with the ethical principle is needed. An individual’s perspective towards ethical thinking reflects in social well being.
The correct ethical practices have a positive impact in community wellbeing. The ethical principle is based on the core values and standards of an individual. The core values of an individual reflect to the community wellbeing (Baer 2015). A person having an idea core ethical principle is expected to educate the community as well, which in turn can contribute to the community wellbeing. Thus, it can be said that ethical practices contribute positively in community wellbeing.
Conclusion
The case study analysis evaluate the contribution of the ethical practices towards community well being. It has been identified that following an ethical approach towards the works help in infusing better principles on the individuals and society. Community wellbeing can be described as a combination social, environmental, economic and political condition that is identified by the individuals and he communities.
