“Importance of ethics in the business world is superlative and global. New trends and corporate issues arise on a daily basis which may create an important burden to organizations and end consumers. Nowadays, the need for proper ethical behaviour within organisations has become crucial to avoid possible lawsuits.

The recent expansion of global business and fall of trade barriers worldwide have further underlined the interest in the topics of ethical behaviour and corporate social responsibility.

Meanwhile, global organisations need to develop and enforce their own codes of ethics specifically directed at the issues related to a multicultural, multinational business environment.”

1. You are required to research a topic on Corporate Social Responsibility (X) and Business Sustainability (Y) in International Business Organisation and the causal relationship between the two variables of X and Y using an organisation of your choice in a specific industry (of Banking, Supply Chain & Logistics, IT, F & B) in Malaysia or in a neighbouring country.

2. Some key words to be used are: Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, Profitability, Business Sustainability, Sustainable Competitive Advantages, Intellectual Property, quality and corruption issues.

3. To search at least 30 citations related to the topic listed in item 1. The article/ journal papers can be both academic and/ or from news/ magazine/ reading articles which can be sourced from google scholar, questia, ebscohost, emerald, www.ipmajournal.co.uk, etc. However, these articles must be from 2008 onwards.

4. Create your own title from the 30 citations as stated in item 3 (the title can include words or phrases like “A Study of Causal Relationship between ….. and …….”, or “Reviewing”, or “Impact of ……. on ……, etc. ….).

5. To write this paper, you will need an :

Abstract (to be written at the beginning of your assignment)

a. Introduction: briefly mention the purpose and rationales of introducing this topic. Use examples on how ethical business ethics should be practised by applying Hofstede’s time orientation.    

Problem statement with supporting statistical data to highlight the crucial situation.

Research Questions by using Kipling’s six honest men (2008).

b. Literature Review/ Body : discuss the sources, points made, and their inter relationships. That is, do they differ or relate to what has been discussed in the past 10 years (citation on the past Findings is necessary and a must for this assignment). You should use key words or a combination of them as sub-headings in this part. A one page Literature Matrix is recommended to simplify and strengthen your presentation.

c. Discussion: Critically discuss whatever has been discussed in the report. DO NOT use terms like I, WE, MY. Write as: This paper/ article/ research …………….
