The assignment is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the sponsorship process while gaining practical experience in drafting a sponsorship proposal. It is also designed to develop students’ critical thinking, writing, team-working and presentation skills.
There are two parts to the assignment, and each are worth 25% of the overall marks for this module. The assignment is to be completed in groups of 3 people.
Part A. Develop a sponsorship proposal for a sports organisation, or event you of your choice targeted towards a specific sponsor. Your sponsorship proposal should include the following. Word Count 3,000 +/-10%
Introduction:

• Brief outline of the organisation
• Organisation Mission and Values
• Details of your target audience
Potential Sponsor:
• Brief outline of the organisation
• Organisation Mission and Values
• Benefits to the sponsor
What objectives they could achieve
What can you offer the sponsor?
▪ Rights, title, naming, sector etc.
▪ Media coverage
▪ Access to target audience – how these match
Sponsorship Structure:
What type of sponsorship arrangement you are proposing,
Off the shelf or bespoke
Solus, tiered or flat
Activation:
Identify some tactics that could be used to activate the sponsorship, these must be relevant to the objectives that are to be achieved.
Part B: Prepare and deliver a 10-minute presentation outlining your rationale for the decisions you have made in developing the sponsorship proposal. This should outline the key elements of the relevant theory on strategic management of public relations and sponsorship and should address the following:
• Fit between the organisation/event and potential sponsor
• Target audiences
• Values
• Ability to meet objectives
• Sponsorship Structure – rational for structure chosen
• Activation – rationale for activation measures chosen
Additional Information:
Part A should be in PDF format submitted through Moodle (URKUND).
• It must include a table of contents and can include graphs or tables and images as appropriate.
• Text should be 12 point with 1.5 line spacing – except for headings.
• Must include sequential page numbering.
• Harvard Referencing System must be used in referencing to books, article, websites etc.
• List of references must be included.
Part B can be in Microsoft PowerPoint or other presentation package.

Parts A & B must include a cover page which provides the following information:
• Names & K numbers of each group member who worked on the assignment
• Programme of study & year
• Subject title
• Date submitted
Parts A & B must include a hard copy official plagiarism disclaimer form signed by all group members who participate in the assignment. These are to be handed in during class time and NOT uploaded to Moodle.
Submission Details:
Part A & B are to be submitted via Moodle by one member of each group. All group members are responsible for ensuring this happens.
