Myers Briggs Report Guidance for Students Please remember that the MBTI technique is not necessarily a completely accurate predictive tool that captures the essence of who you are now and forever. It is, however, very useful in helping you start the conversation with yourself and can help feed in to the reflections you are carrying out in the Pebblepad profile. You should be aware that MBTI is one of the techniques most commonly used in staff recruitment internationally. Key criteria for assessment: This report is a piece of personal reflective writing and is different from the conventional form of scientific writing you are used to employing. This report requires you to write in a reflective manner on your own personality characteristics as revealed by applying the Myers-Briggs technique to yourself. The following bullets give you guidance on the sorts of themes that should appear in your writing, although the report does not have to be confined to these. To what extent does the profile confirm your thoughts about yourself, or surprise you. You might reflect on how others around you respond to your profile – do they agree that it captures you, or are you different? The reflection should include examples of your MBTI profile being evident in your everyday life, for example in work or social situations – how you interact with others, how you approach problems, how you communicate etc. You should consider the ways in which the characteristics revealed by the MBTI profile could affect your employment prospects – positions/tasks that might suit you and the sorts of career/job choices you might make. Better reports will also make some introductory comments on the origins of the Myers-Briggs technique and the sorts of settings in which it is used (no more than 10% of the report). As this is a piece of coursework on a professional development course, writing quality – style/expression, punctuation, grammar, spelling – represents a key assessment criterion in this piece of work. . You should include an introduction, a main body subdivided into different paragraphs that address the different elements as described above (and anything else that you wish to reflect on) and a concluding paragraph. The word length is 1500-2000 word, but I am reasonably relaxed about you going a little over this in your efforts to profile yourselves. This is the assignment for Sports Sciences, Pharm Sci, Forensic Sci with Criminology and Geography/Env Sci students taking Chem 1082 during term 1. In summary, please note that the best MBTI reports will be focused on your self reflective writing on your MBTI profile. Please ensure that you draw out the significance of your reflections for your employability prospects, including the sorts of job tasks you appear to be drawn towards. Please remember to reflect on aspects of your profile you might like to change and how you would go about making change happen. The marker will pay attention to the extent and depth of reflective writing and the quality of the written English when determining the mark. While description forms part of the writing task, reflection is essential to a successful report. E.G. the writing should show signs that you have considered your strengths, weaknesses, skills, problems you face, achievements, happiness/unhappiness, solutions you can identify when considering your MBTI profile. Another set of potential triggers for your reflection include your ability to link your MBTI to positive situations in your life – such as tasks or situations you handled well (how did you do this, why did you succeed, what motivated you, how do these link to your MBTI profile?), negative situations – mistakes or misjudgements and how you might handle these differently. What did I do wrong?, why did I make a mistake? How, if at all, is this linked to aspects of my MBTI profile? By engaging in meaningful self reflection you can change how you see yourself and how others see you. Do not underestimate this task as it requires you to think deeply about yourself.
