Introduction
The purpose of the assignment is to provide a brief description about the contribution of the public, private, non-profit agencies or faith based groups and nursing professionals could result in the realization of a more just global community.
The chosen organization for the assignment is World Medical Association.
The poster will provide an overview of the World Medical Association, Contribution of the organization in common good such as advocacy, emergency relief and education and Contribution of nursing professional in the program arranged by the organization.
The World Medical Association is a global independent confederation of medical association that represents the health professionals such as physicians around the world.
The idea of establishing the World Medical Association has given by the House of the British Medical Association in the year 1945.
The organization was established on 18th September, 1947 at Ferney-Voltaire, France.
At that time physicians from 27 different countries has performed in the first general assembly of the World Medical Association at Paris.
In the year 2017 the organization has grown to 114 national medical association and the number of physicians associated with it is more than 10 million.
In order to provide financial support to the members of the organization an executive board known as the council has established the Secretariat of the World Medical Association at New York city in the year 1945.
The present president of the Organization is Dr. Yoshitake Yokokura.
There are two kind of membership in the organization- Constituent Membership (Member of national association) and Associate Membership (Individual physician).
According to the statistics of 2016 there are 114 constituent member and 1013 associate members in the World Medical Association.
The purpose of the organization is to provide forum to its associated members in order to communicate freely, active cooperation, professional competence, achieve desired outcomes related to medical ethics and promote freedom of the professional physicians around the world.
The main target of the organization is to provide facility to the high-calibre, provide healthy environment to the patient in order to ensure human care and improve the quality of life for individual around the globe.
The mission of the organization is to serve humanity by endeavouring to achieve the highest international standards in Medical Education, Medical Science, Medical Art and Medical Ethics, and Health Care for all people in the world (WMA – The World Medical Association-Home, 2018).
Contribution to the Common Good
The organization provides guidelines to improve the standard of the ethical behaviour provided by the physicians.
The organization provides effective policies and develop the existing policies in order to deal with the ethical issues in the medical field.
The organization play an important role in order to advocate the human rights related to health for all the people around the world.
The physicians present in the organization provide effective care with excellent quality through their knowledge and experience to the patient without any discrimination in order to promote human rights related to health around the world.
There are many situations in which the patients and the physicians as well could be victim and face abuse related human rights regarding health. The World Medical Association provides effective interventions in order to support such victims and take proper steps against the violation.
The organization play an important role in order to provide emergency relief to the people with health related need.
The physicians in the organization fulfil their responsibilities regarding health care of all people in the world, maintaining well-being, resolving public health issue, promoting health and creating awareness related to health in an effective manner.
The world Medical Association advocates for the improvement of the health system in order to address health related issues.
The organization provides preventive actions for the communicable diseases and provides focus to the health determinants that could affect the quality of care in order to promote health in an effective manner.
The world Medical Association has signed an agreement with the WCEA in order to establish a global network to improve the course related to medical education.
The organization provides special terms to the members that could provide them access to effective platform and association to share education.
The organization provides effective education program for free to the developing region (WMA – The World Medical Association-Home, 2018).
Contribution of the Nursing Professional
The nursing professional could contribute effort to the programs of the World Medical Association in order provide service to the people with need.
The nursing professional could take help of the guidelines provided by the organization in order to learn about the ethical behaviour and could contribute to the medical ethics in an effective manner (Cannaerts, Gastmans & Casterlé, 2014).
The skills of the nursing professionals could help to contribute in the program by providing effective care to the patients without any discrimination (Parahoo, 2014).
The nursing professionals could perform in the program of the organization in order to create awareness regarding health and maintain well-being. Such contribution would help to promote health to the individual level (Hamlin et al., 2016).
The nursing professionals could contribute to the effort of the organization by providing prevention action such as effective sanitation to the people regarding the communicable disease (Blais et al., 2015).
The nursing professional could contribute to the program of the organization by sharing the knowledge and skills related to medical practice in the platform provided by the organization for free (Dunbar-Jacob, Nativio & Khalil, 2013).
