Scenario 1
Recent tourist initiatives such as the Gathering in 2013, the designation of the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East have proved very successful in attracting more tourism and generating more revenue in the country. Devise a new marketing idea along similar lines, aimed at increasing numbers of tourists coming to either the country of Ireland or to a particular place in Ireland. Write a report analysing potentially unexplored niches in the tourism market, present your findings from that analysis and devise a recommendation for a new tourism initiative.
Scenario 2
GMIT management decided at a meeting that the growing problem of obesity in Ireland can be tackled by local efforts at third level to promote healthy eating and exercise. Imagine that you have been tasked by them to write a report analysing factors that contribute to overweight and obesity amongst GMIT students in particular and proposing ways in which they can be combatted in the college. Taking account of the fact that tackling obesity involves the dual concerns of nutrition and exercise, analyse in your report the current provision of food and exercise in the college, present findings and make recommendations as to what changes can be made to bring about change in obesity rates amongst the student population in the college, inventing any details you think necessary.
Scenario 3
Imagine you manage a branch of On Point Fashion Ltd, a group of clothes shops with outlets throughout Ireland. All shops had to close for a period of five months due to the Coronavirus pandemic and suffered massive loss in revenue as a result. The area manager has asked all branch managers to write a report suggesting how to return the chain to profitability once the shops open again the following month.
In your report, deal with the health of the business prior to the closures and your ideas on how to recover existing customers, attract new custom, deal with online competition and deal with advantages or disadvantages of your shop’s location and parking facilities. Write a report outlining your findings and recommendations, inventing any details you think necessary.
