Lack of skills
According to the first main point, the author has pointed out the importance of practice as well as attentiveness in the classroom in order to enhance the performance of the students. Students, in their early years of graduation, lack the knowledge of proper APA citation. Despite the fact that the students are completely new to the subject, lack of attentiveness in the classroom also results in deterioration of the performance. Inattentiveness in the classroom results in missing out the details as well inefficient of the teaching procedure. Inattentiveness in the class along with lack of regular practice hinders the way of gaining and enhancing their knowledge. This in turn affects their understanding of how to properly cite APA citation. In this study the author have clearly stated that all APA citations cannot be improved by regular practicing. These citations requires skills and knowledge to master that can only be gained by complicated, quirky as well as contradictory experiences that expands with time. Thus, according to the author, regular practicing along with attentiveness and experience can gradually lead to mastering the APA style citation.
Factors affecting understanding
In the second main point, the author has that the error done by students while citing in APA style is the result of misperception of how the source material needs to be classified. Majority of the students finds to easier to recognize books, chapters, articles and journals when it comes to APA style citation. However, difficulties are faced by them while separating titled volumes in a series, electronic sources as well as in conference preparation. Thus students get prone to error while performing APA style citation due to inefficiency in understanding of complex citation rules, intellectual misunderstanding and poor physiological imagining. In this study, the importance of proper understanding of the sources for appropriate APA style citation has been pointed out. Efficiency in APA Style citation helps the student to avoid plagiarism along with the serious consequences that come along it. If other ideas are used without citing them it depicts that that the student is taking credit of others work which is considered to be cheating in several institution. Citation can be defined as a professional courtesy that acknowledges the work of others. It is highly crucial to master proper APA citation style by the student since it strengthen the credibility of the student’s work. Not only this, it also shows that the research is comprehensive and helps making the arguments more convincing.
Erroneous Writing Method
In the third main point, the author have clearly pointed out that the habits as well as thought process of the students are responsible for the mistakes in citation that takes place. Lack of understanding process is the chief reason behind making logical mistakes. Besides that, the preferences of the students towards digital source over print source are another major factor which is negatively affecting their performance. In order to enhance their performance the students should focus on regular practice, attentiveness and enhancing experience.
