Assessment 1: Report (60%) You are required to produce a report that does not exceed 2000 words on either of the following two topics. Select one of the following two topic(s): • Using relevant examples, prepare a report that summarises the impacts of the operation of low-cost airlines on tourism in a country of your choice. Or • Select any mode of tourist transport and develop a proposal that details how it can be developed as a tourist product in a destination of your choice. Your report will include: • A cover sheet with your name and other necessary submission details; • An executive summary which summarises the entire report in a couple of paragraphs; • A brief introduction of what your report is about; • A contents page that shows the structure of your report, including an itemisation of any appendices of you might have included at the end of your report. Please ensure that you have included page numbers. • The main body of the report should detail: For Topic 1: a description of the low cost airlines operations in the destination (including number, size, where they operate from, since when and so on). Provide evidence of the impact of the carriers on tourism (i.e. development of new products, new destinations, new markets, impact on prices/availability of routes). Reflect on the future of the low cost carriers (i.e. competition from other carriers/other forms of transport, government policy, etc). For Topic 2: a description of your selected mode of transport and an explanation of the proposed tourist product. An identification of potential demand, stakeholders who need to be involved in the provision of the product and commentary on the viability of the product. • A list of references referred to in the text presented in correct APA format.
