Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
Question

Your first assignment is to submit a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for the ISOL536 course. We don’t officially talk about BCPs in this course. However, this is an important topic in ensuring availability (one of the three tenants of information security.)In previous classes, I have found that far too many students miss deadlines. Most of the reasons revolve around the fact that students just waited too late and ran into some type of network problem. This is primarily an on-line course. Technology is not 100% dependable. This is exactly what you will encounter in the real world when you try to deploy services. So, in this assignment you will develop your own BCP to address service availability issues. Just like in the real world, service interruption without prior planning has a cost. The inability of the ISOL536 student to successfully meet ALL of the critical business functions (i.e. completing labs, taking quizzes/exams, etc.) ON OR BEFORE the stated DEADLINE will result in a reduction of points available for each assignment or exam. In other words, if you wait until the last minute and experience a connectivity interruption, you will lose points. So, download the attached template, fill it out, and hand it back in. This assignment will be 2% of your total grade. However, this plan will likely save you more points over the semester. Take some time to really think about how you can avoid network connectivity problems.
