Task:
This exercise requires you to conduct a comparatively wide research study involving a basic qualitative method that involves a visual mapping exercise.
 
Task You are to identify an object produced in the last 80 years and develop a visual exploration of the object via a forensic/ historical/ typographical mapping and observations around the cultural forces related to its production and variants.
 
Very broadly, the format of the presentation is to follow the approach taken in a book by Heller, S (2007) The anatomy of design: uncovering the influences and inspirations in modern graphic design.

The approach requires a minimum of three “attributes” of an existing design to be researched in terms of potential ideas and influences that inform the design in question.
 
This is then documented in a chronological and typological sequence using referenced images.
